Okay, when you make a ten day commitment to eat no junk food what posts on Active Rain interest you the most? You've got it! Now I have to go raid the pantry for a German Chocolate KCup as the next best thing for Cake Day.
National Chocolate Cake Day is January 27! Celebrate the Day!
This is the perfect day for me because it combines 2 of my favorite things.... chocolate and cake. I don’t know how you plan on celebrating it but I’ll be in my kitchen making chocolate cake... homemade!
As far as I’m concerned, we should set aside a special holiday for Dr. James Baker, who with his partner, John Hannon, developed a method for grinding cocoa beans into chocolate.
To me there’s something very comforting in the sound of the words “chocolate cake.” When I’m reading a book ( it doesn’t matter what kind) and I come across the words “chocolate cake” it’s like having a warm blanket and a glass of milk handed to me.
There are so many differents kinds of chocolate cake:
German Chocolate Cake
Devil’s Food Cake
Black Forest Cake
and many many more.
If you’ve never made a homemade chocolate cake, this weekend might be the time to try it. Growing up in Houston, that’s all I had... never from a box.
~One hint..... make your own chocolate frosting and when you do be sure to double the recipe. You’ll be glad you did. I use Kathleen’s Chocolate Icing from The New Basics Cookbook~
I’ve given you 1 day’s head start so you can go out and get what you need to make a chocolate cake... but even if you don’t have time to make your own, take some time to treat yourself. Pour a glass of milk, or a cup of coffee or tea and indulge yourself with a piece of chocolate cake.
