I have been wanting to add a few Google Alerts and needed a how to refresher. So here you go! I have my Golden Results set up as an alert but am not sure I have my name. Sounds like a good plan to get this done for 2013.
Google provides an array of free services to anyone who has a Google account. One of those services is Google Alerts. Basically, once you set up an alert for a keyword, like your name, Google will send an email to your GMail account every time they index that word.
Take a look at the box below. If you’re signed on to your Google account, just type http://alerts.google.com into a browser. You’ll see the form below, except with your gmail account...not mine:
This is where you set up the keyword/s that you want to track under where it says Search query. You can set it to get alerts once a day or as soon as Google indexes the query.
If you’re not already tracking your name, and key words in your market area...you should. Good, bad, or ugly...if Google indexes that word, you’ll be notified by email. In my opinion, critically important for an agent to know what's going on at all times.
Stay ALERT...Google is.
