Early Fall Home Maintenance for Your Tennessee Home

These are some great tips for your Southern Maryland home, too. I like the idea I have read recently where home inspections are done as checklists for preventative measures to maintain your home before costly repairs. BRAVO!

Early Fall Home Maintenance for Your Tennessee Home.

Fall MaintenanceIf you own a home in Tennessee and especially in Clarksville, it is the time of the year to get ready for those plunging temperatures that are right around the corner. If you want to own a home in Clarksville, there is still time for me to get you settled before the cold weather arrives.

Although the leaves are just starting to change colors and fall, these are some things that will preserve the investment you have in your home and make your home more comfortable for the winter.

  1. Caulk around windows and doors to seal those gaps that could be letting air into your home.
  2. Make sure gutters are clean before the leaves really start falling and that downspouts can carry the water away from the house.
  3. Detach garden hoses from outside faucets because one dip below freezing could cause pipes to freeze. Look down to make sure foundation vents and crawl space doors are closed before the hard freeze occur.
  4. If you want a nice lawn in the spring, you need to fertilize and plant grass seed now.

  1. Have your heating and air system serviced for its best efficiency this winter (including changing the filters).
  2. Put fresh batteries in your smoke detectors (they don’t last forever).
  3. Check the inside of your doors and windows for gaps and caulk or add weatherstripping as needed..
  4. Since you are going to be inside more, go ahead and get those carpets cleaned before the holiday rush. It will help cut down on dust and your allergies may be easier to handle.
