In about an hour you can cruise from Southern Maryland to check out the Flowers in DC and come back later in the day after Commuter Traffic. There is so much to do in DC and in Baltimore MD that just name it, it's there. Exhibits, art, museums, music....what a treat to be so closeby the Nation's Capitol plus Annapolis and Baltimore.
Photowalking at the U.S. National Arboretum
We have another beautiful sunny morning in the Maryland suburbs and it a perfect time to visit the U.S. National Arboretum in northeast Washington, DC, fronting on the Anacostia River.
Many visitors miss the opportunity to spend some time at one of the most attractive locations in the District. With 446 acres, the Arboretum is larger than might be expected. A map is available at the Visitor Center. There are miles of trails and roads that allow access to the many gardens.
This week is a good time to see the Azalea Collections which include over 15,000 azaleas on the south side of Mount Hamilton. Take a trail to the top of Mount Hamilton, at 240 feet, for a view of the United States Capitol, only 2 miles to the west.
You will want so spend some time with this visit. Go in the morning, pack a lunch, and enjoy many hours in a wonderful location. Make sure you have your camera in hand, with an extra battery, for an ideal photowalking opportunity.
