Do Not Put Bad Pictures into the MLS When Editing is Simple and Fast

I use iPiccy for collages but looks like it does photo editing also. I want to check out Picmonkey and Ribbett. I use Picasa just a little. My main interest has been with Adobe LightRoom4 which just upgraded to 5. I've noticed AdObe Photoshop and Premiere upgrade this time frame of year. Lots to do! Oh, Snapseed on the iPad is great!

Do Not Put Bad Pictures into the MLS When Editing is Simple and Fast

I have written articles before critiquing listings in the MLS that had no pictures or only one front image which is a requirement. But another gripe of mine is putting in BAD pictures. And in all fairness, many agents might not know how to take them correctly and if needed, how to edit them.

I always try to to take straight pictures, remove items that might be distracting or look messy like toothpaste or dishes, and try not to be in the pictures of the bathrooms due to the mirrors. When taking the picture try to line the camera up with the wall or ceiling line and your picture will be straight. And I try to shoot for the center of the room as this gives the viewer a good image of the size of  room instead of just a fraction of it.

Just before I started ActiveRain, I had a listing and my  front image was crooked. The house was on the hill but still it was my fault as I surely should be able to take straight pictures by then. But I did not know how to edit the images. I could crop a picture with my "Picture Manager" but did not have the ability to straighten the picture. What a revelation when I found I could do this. This picture in the MLS has always haunted me as it is crooked. See how nice it looks when it is straightened.

Here are a few right out of the MLS to view and see why a little editing might help. Hold the camera straight, clean off the area if it is messy, shoot high and miss the mess on the floor or edit your picture if need be.

If you do not have editing software on your computer and most people do, there are some free sites to help you get your picture looking sharper. I use Ribbet and there are many others like PicMonkey, and iPiccy. If you need to edit a picture, it only takes a couple of minutes and the buyers will get the true picture of the lovely home you are portraying.

This was not meant as a criticism  but rather a tutorial as I put in crooked pictures for years and was just happy to have a digital camera and know how to upload into the website. But with a little editing, your picture will look great.

You are not allowed to alter your photos, like remove a big tree by the door or a beam in the living room but if you have a coat on the sofa, you can easily remove it with the cloning tool on the free editing sites.
